Northern Lights Guide

Employer: Sorrisniva AS

Position: Northern Lights Guide/Driver

Type of employment: 01 December 2026 – 31 December 2026 March 2027 – 100%

Workplace: Sorrisniva, Alta, Finnmark

Sorrisniva AS is a year-round experience company located on the banks of the Alta River, just outside the center of Alta. The company is built on local traditions and values.

In addition to many exciting activities throughout the year, we offer overnight stays in our Igloo Hotel in winter and Arctic Wilderness Lodge, which is open all year round. Arctic Wilderness Lodge consists of 24 suites, 2 restaurants, a bar, a lounge with stunning views of the Alta River, a modern spa with sauna, hot tub and 2 treatment rooms, and a meeting room.

In the position of Northern Lights guide/driver, good guest service skills are of utmost importance. As a guide, you are an educator, entertainer, coordinator and communicator at the same time. You are friendly and welcoming, and able to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere while hosting your guests.

Your job is to conduct tours in small groups of up to 16 guests (sometimes full bus groups), including preparations and responsibilities after the tour. A background in photography is a must, whether it's as a hobby or a (semi-)professional level. Although previous guide experience is greatly appreciated, it is not a must. Often it is more important to have the right personality and motivation, as we can train you in all the other aspects of the job.

‍

Tasks:

  • Guiding Northern Lights tours by van (7-8 guests), guide = driver.
  • Guided Northern Lights tours by minibus (8-15 guests), guide only.
  • Take photos, edit them, and send them to recipients.
  • Preparations before and after the trip (preparation of vehicles, preparation of snacks and drinks, packing equipment, etc.).
  • Contribute to continuous learning and success for your team by sharing knowledge and passion. As our main Northern Lights guide, you will learn and help other guides improve their Northern Lights photography skills.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned. Guiding Igloo Hotel tours will be included in shifts on a regular basis.

‍

‍

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English. We greatly appreciate other language skills, especially French, German, Spanish and Scandinavian languages.
  • You know your way around a camera and aren't afraid to use it in the dark.
  • Physical fit and weatherproof. Winter temperatures can drop below -30°C, and you need to be able to handle both yourself and your guests in extreme conditions.
  • Previous experience in similar positions is highly valued but not a must.
  • Driver's license (minimum class B)
  • PCV-lisens (Passenger Carrying Vehicles).

‍

Personal qualities:

  • Service-minded, genuine desire to create good guest experiences.
  • Positive and outgoing
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Socially savvy and good storytelling skills to keep guests entertained and engaged.

‍

We offer:

  • An exciting and challenging position.
  • Good opportunities for professional and personal development.
  • Onboarding process with extensive training, before taking full control of the ride and equipment.
  • A workplace with a unique location by the Alta River – one of the world's most famous salmon rivers.

‍
